$40k Adu Boahen Bribe, Smear campaign: Kpebu levels wild accusations at Agyebeng.

Some vile corruption charges have been brought against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, by renowned private legal lawyer, Martin Kpebu.

A report by the citinewsroom.com showed that he (the Special Prosecutor) was accused by Kpebu who has been demanding the head of Kissi Agyebeng due to the manner he handled the case of former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta.

Martin Kpebu alleged that the Special Prosecutor had requested an alleged amount of 40000 dollars as bribe to former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen to drop the charges against the former minister who was at the time under investigation.

I would like to demonstrate that I am not afraid of Ghanaians. When Kissi Agyebeng released Adu Boahen, he wrote to him to bring him cash of 40,000 dollars, when he informed Ghanaians that he had not done any crime under his jurisdiction. Why do you have to raise the amount of the money you need by collecting 40,000? he is quoted saying.

The attorney who is said to have made the said comments in an interview on the Big Issue at the channel one TV on Saturday, December 6, 2025, stated that he has the evidence to back his claim against Kissi Agyebeng.

He as well challenged the Special Prosecutor on interfering with an investigative probe against the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) of Abuakwa South, Dr Kingsley Agyemang, who had been a suspect in a corruption scandal during his tenure as the Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat.

According to him, Kissi Agyebeng halted the investigation on grounds that he was afraid that the investigation would harm the parliamentary ambitions of Dr Agyemang.

The present [Dr] Kingsley Agyemang, MP, was formerly in charge of the Scholarship Secretariat [Registrar]. Kingsley Agyemang was reported to the OSP and he was supposed to be arrested and write his statement in case of a corruption case. But Kissi Agyebeng prevented the arrest and stated that Kingsley was his friend and that this would interfere with his prospects of winning the primaries in Abuakwa South, he said.

He also accused the Special Prosecutor of halting the investigation into the case of corruption involving Dr Agyemang and also conducted an attack on Samuel Atta Akyea who by then was the MP of Abuakwa South.

To secure the seat he had used some individuals to conduct a smear campaign against Samuel Atta Akyea, a former MP of Abuakwa south. One of the boys has sworn to be guaranteed two portions of scholarship, he added.
