Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng faces severe criticism from former ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo spokesperson Palgrave Boakye Danquah regarding his management of significant legal cases. During an interview on Rainbow Radio 92.4FM’s As It Is in Ghana program Danquah evaluated the Special Prosecutor’s legal ability along with his professional skills in prosecution through criticizing his recent conduct that weakens both Ghanaian legal standards and its worldwide reputation.

Danquah attacks Special Prosecutor Agyebeng because he designated former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a fugitive. The OSP issued a fugitive declaration toward Ofori-Atta even though there existed documented correspondence between the parties which OSP chose to dismiss. By declaring Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive the former spokesperson emphasized neglect of constitutional lawful processes along with ignorance of proper fugitive definitions. In his opinion a fugitive refers to an individual who flees from custody or who has received a legal conviction through an impartial judicial process. The definition led him to explain that making Ofori-Atta into a fugitive lacked legal and procedural validity.

The remarks of Danquah point to a larger problem regarding the current state of lawmaking and governance methods in Ghana. As a legal professional the Special Prosecutor ought to establish exemplary conduct through strict adherence to legal rules which leads to impartial and just administration of justice. The lack of proper justification in declaring Ofori-Atta a fugitive undermines the legal foundations which the official was supposed to protect.

Through his direct criticism Danquah encourages both judicial and governmental bodies in Ghana to reassess their standards of practice. These missteps have the capability to steer international attention from Ghana’s economic resources of gold, cocoa, oil, and Black Star toward intense controversies about legal case management. The nation needs to revive principled legal practices as Danquah asserts because both domestic trust and international confidence are essential but currently missing.
